Vina Vietnamese Vegetarian
A vegetarian, classic Vespa obsessed friend who has a penchant for shooting from the hip once told us “the best things in life start with the letter V”. In the case of Vina Vietnamese Vegetarian (395 King St Newtown), our friend speaks the truth. While we initially were disappointed at the thought of Sydney’s latest vegetarian establishment being another mock-meat joint, a few visits quickly dismissed that thought. Vina is small, friendly, family run establishment on south King Street, serving traditional south Vietnamese cuisine with a mock meat twist. From Pho (pronounced ‘fir’ for those that insist on pronouncing it phonetically) to lemongrass, chilli mock-chicken and rice vermicelli with spring rolls, Vina pull the punches when it comes to competing with the more established mock-meat restaurants in the city. All-in-all we here at VeganSydney haven’t been this excited about mock since Celestial Palace RIP first opened its doors.

Yep, I can vouch for this place! Been here a (delicious) handful of times and have always felt spoiled for choice. I looove the mock pork buns as a starter…although they’re almost a desert!

I haven’t seen ‘Peace Harmony’ restaurant mentioned on here. It’s a vegan, Thai, mock-meat place in the CBD (44 Erskine street). Very yummy if you’re into mock meat. open for lunch and dinner. I’ve only tried the Peace salad and the Roast Duck salad, both really nice. Oh, I did try a mock fish dish too which wasn’t so amazing but definitely worth a visit.
Peace Harmony is a favourite of VeganSydney we’ve just never had a chance to write a complete review.
