Mexican’t do a decent vegetarian burrito

The Guzmen Y Gomez Mexican fast food chain has taken the BBQ tofu burrito off the menu. This leaves the only vegetarian option a bean-less, protein-less slop of overcooked vegetables in a tortilla. Email them at info@guzmanygomez.com and ask why they feel their vegetarian customers should be treated to second class menus.

South of the Border

Finally a decent Mexican take-away has opened in Sydney. Located at 40 Darlinghurst Rd, Kings Cross Tomatillo Mexican Grill is the best of Southern California at twice the price. While the vegetarian options are numerous the vegan pickings are substantially slimmer due to the excessive reliance on sour cream and cheese. All that said they are open late, you can ask to ‘hold the cheese’, they serve Mexican beer and the vegetarian burritos are fresh and delicious. It is also welcome change to see the Guzman Y Gomez (review coming shortly) monopoly broken. Lets hope this is the start of a trend and we’ll see as many Mexican joints as Sushi or Thai restaurants in Sydney’s foreseeable future.
